If you own a Shopify store / eCommerce business and you’re not doing email marketing, you’re leaving BIG money on the table. In this video I’m going to show you how to 3x your revenue using email marketing and give away the 3 key emails you need to be using today.
Too many Shopify store owners make the mistake of paying for new customers over and over again. Every time you need a purchase you need to pay Facebook a fee. Instead, you should learn how to OWN your customers and get them on your email list. This allows you to market to your customers whenever you want, with no restrictions and most importantly, for free. Not restricted by any other platform or algorithm.
In this video, I’ll be showing you the basics, but I’ll be making some more videos on more advanced email marketing methods for Shopify including split testing, advanced conditional logic, and other unique flows we use in our stores.
Repeat buyers are the key to generating real scale in your eCommerce business. And it starts today with email marketing.
First things first. You need to follow up with people who abandon their cart on your website with reminders. Just because someone doesn’t complete their checkout doesn’t mean they’re not interested. Maybe they didn’t have their credit card on hand or they were distracted by a text.
The abandoned cart flow starts with a simple reminder asking the customer to return to their saved cart. After that, you will send out a few additional emails offering progressively larger discounts for 2-3 days until the customer either buys or loses interest.
Next is a not-so-secret weapon we use to maximize how much we make on every Shopify sale. Bounce back-emails.
Bounce-back emails are messages that are sent out immediately after a customer makes a purchase offering them a big discount on a select product or a certain collection on the website. You would be surprised just how many take you up on this.
Why?
There is no possible warmer lead to send a marketing email to than someone who JUST purchased a product on your website. So offer a generous discount and get these sent out right away.
Last, but certainly not least will be the initial coupon flow emails. This will be the primary way you get potential customers onto your list. These are the emails that are sent out immediately upon opting in on your website in exchange for a discount on their order.
For these to work, you’ll have to add a pop-up or other opt-in form to your website. This is super simple to do right through Klaviyo which is free to use. Then just set up the trigger to add all of these subscribers to the coupon flow.
Have the first email send out right away then send multiple followups every 24 hours based on whether the lead has made a purchase or not. Setting up conditional logic like this is easy to do.
All of these email flows should be the initial integration customers have with your email marketing, but all should later lead to what we call a “welcome flow” which will be emails sent out every 2-3 days to keep in touch with your customers and give them more information about your brand.
Implementing these 3 core emails into your marketing can easily 3x your Shopify sales if you’re not using them already. I’ll be making some more advanced videos in the near future on split testing, advanced conditional logic, and more unique flows we use to maximize revenue.

So we’ve all probably heard how Apple is going after Facebook with their new privacy changes. But it turns out Facebook might not be the only company affected. This new privacy update could affect email marketing (and even cold email) using email marketing tools such as Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, WoodPecker, Kartra Mail, Constant Contact, Campaign Monitor, Hubspot and more!
In fact…
If you send emails in your business to potential clients, or even existing clients – there are going to be some big changes in the way that email marketing will work.
So, what’s going on?
In iOS 15, Apple are introducing new privacy changes that will affect email marketing.
The first, is something called “Mail Privacy Protection”.
So, right now, when you send out an email to your leads…
You can typically track their location
Their IP address
Whether they opened the email
What day and time they opened the email
And more
But with Apple’s new Mail Privacy Protection feature, all of the information will now be gone…
Now, if you thought that was bad… It actually gets a little bit worse.
Because there’s also another privacy feature called “Hide my email”
Hide my email means that if you have an opt-in form on your website or on one of your landing pages, Apple will give users the option to hide their email.
So Apple will create a random iCloud email address which hides the persons REAL email address. And any emails the business sends to this iCloud email address will be redirected to the users real email address. So the business that asks for the email, will not actually know the persons real email address.
Now you might be thinking, well its not so much of a big deal, because the random email address will still redirect the emails to their real email address right?
Well, that’s where another problem comes in.
The random email address that apple creates can be deleted by people at any time at the CLICK of a button.
So this means, if you’re sending emails to someone using the hide my email feature, your emails could be delivered to that person without any problems. But one day – they could at any time delete this email address – causing your emails to suddenly bounce back and not get through.
So, what this mean for your business and what can you do about it?
First of all it’s good to be aware of what’s happening.
Because if you don’t know about this change, you might suddenly see a big drop in your email open rates and think what’s going on? Am I doing something wrong in my emails?
And it’s most likely not because people are NOT opening your emails, it’s just because of Apple’s new Mail Privacy Protection.
So if you suddenly notice a drop in email open rates after iOS 15, don’t be too alarmed, it’s most likely just because of this new Apple privacy change.
Or if you suddenly see a bunch of random iCloud email addresses when you generate leads, you’ll know its probably people using the “Hide my email” feature.
So being aware of what’s happening will help you avoid thinking maybe something is wrong with your marketing campaign, when in reality its just part of Apple’s new privacy updates.
The other thing you can do, is in your follow up emails, give people a reason to WANT to receive your weekly emails.
So this is where you need to think very carefully about what you’re actually emailing them.
Have a look right now in your email marketing software and see what kind of emails get the best results and what kind of emails get people unsubscribing. And focus on creating more emails that provide value and help people. That way they won’t want to delete their email address.
So, these are just two new privacy related Apple iOS features I wanted you to be aware of that may impact your digital marketing.

Want to learn how to increase your email open rates? Watch this video for 7 amazing tips to get more from your email marketing campaigns.
Email marketing is a powerful way to increase your sales by 30% or more. But people get a ton of emails these days, so how do you do it right so you stand out in the crowd and people actually open your emails! Let’s break down 7 tips!
Tip #1 – Segment your list so the content is highly targeted and relateable for that group. For example, if you sell clothing online, you’d want to segment your list by your different categories of interest so you only email that content to that group. Or if you send travel emails, you’d want to send areas of interest to relevant people. Same thing with local businesses, if you do massage, chiropractic and acupuncture, you’d want to segment that list. After all, if the content is not relatable, it will not be opened, even if your subject line is killer!
Tip #2 – Create a relatable and engaging subject line. A/B test 2-3 different subject lines with small segments of your email list. Determine what the best subject line is, then send to the entire list. Make sure to keep your subject short and sweet. Test it on mobile to make sure it fits! Put yourself in the receiver’s shoes, what would motivate them to open the email?
Tip #3 – Send from a familiar personal name/email or company name/email. To do this, you should have an opt-in list that knows who you are! If they do not recognize you they will likely not only not open the email, but mark spam! Too high of a spam rate can get you blacklisted.
Tip #4 – Make sure the domain you are sending from is verified. If not, it may not even make the inbox, it will go directly to spam and therefore not be opened.
Tip #5 – Using the receiver’s name or other dynamic and relevant content in the subject line can often catch their eye and increase open rates.
Tip #6 – Send at the right time for your audience when you feel they’ll be actively in their inbox so your email is seen coming in or near the top of their inbox. For us, that’s Tuesday or Wednesday mornings early just before business owners arrive to work.
Tip #7 – Send valuable content! If you send content that adds value, people will stay subscribed and continue to open your emails. The subject line is important initially, but as time goes on, the value of your content will keep people coming back and opening future emails more than anything.
