CMS sues social media companies

Charlotte Mecklenburg School leaders are suing major social media companies over the impact of their products on the mental health of students.

The CMS Board of Education announced the lawsuit Friday against Meta, Google, Snap, and Byte-Dance, which is the parent company of TikTok.

CMS argues these platforms are causing addictive behaviors in young people and jeopardizing the mental welfare of those students.
