Social media users are criticizing Yogi Adityanath’s government for this decision. The Lallantop in its investigation found that the viral newspaper cutting was published in Amar Ujala newspaper as a satire on the occasion of Holi. Many users shared it believing as real news.

Cutting of a newspaper is viral on social media claiming Engineering student now will have to read Vedas and Puranas also. The Lallantop in its investigation found the claim to be three years old. In an endeavor to make technical education more holistic & enriching, an exercise was undertaken by AICTE for framing model curriculum. Subjects such as Environmental Sciences, Induction Program, Indian Constitution, Essence of Indian Traditional Knowledge have been made mandatory; however, they are non-credit courses.
