Leaders’ Debate: Singh tells Bernier he shouldn’t be welcomed on debate stage

Standing on stage together at the federal leaders’ debate on Monday evening, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh told People’s Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier that he shouldn’t be there at all.

During a back-and-forth in response to a question about Bill 21, Quebec’s legislation that bans some public servants from wearing religious symbols, Bernier brought up Singh’s opposition to him being among the six leaders allowed to participate in the English-language debate.

According to a report conducted by Nanos Research for CTV News and the Globe and Mail, which was released on Wednesday, the PPC has been gaining ground throughout the country with dramatic surges in British Columbia and Ontario.

As Mike Drolet explains, the connection to far right groups is for some, raising red flags.
