Topical Authority is a buzz word that has been popping up more and more recently – but a lot of people are neglecting the fundamentals.
The steps to building topical authority and increasing organic traffic on Google are:
1. Upload all of your products
2. Create all of your category/collection pages
3. Create all of the surrounding pages and pillar pages
4. Create any other important pages you think you need to, then put all important category/collection pages in your header
5. Create blog content that is wel-formatted, will get indexed, and has good graphics inside it.
6. Internally link from those blog posts to other pages that you previously bit, specifically the ones you want to focus on
7. Watch line go up
Topical authority is often misunderstood – and people spend so long focusing on the wrong things. I highly recommend that you just focus on consistently posting high quality content that brings value to your readers and to your website visitors, and not spending so much time on collections.
Collections and categories are extremely hard to rank on Google if you just build them and then forget about them
