Back in my day, to message people you either sent them a 25p text message, tried to instant message them on MSN or perhaps send a message on Facebook. Fast forward to 2024 and every single website and social media also has an instant messenger attached which can also be used to make group chats. This ease of access might be seen as a good thing, but it makes us largely ignore our messages as we are overwhelmed with constant non-stop notifications and DMs begging for our attention.
