It’s no secret that Elon Musk dislikes social media. He’s even gone so far as to suggest that individuals erase Facebook and Instagram.
And, in a recent interview, he warns about the hazards of these sites.
Let’s see what Musk has to say about these platforms. According to Musk, social media is conditioning people’s minds to have a short attention span and to demand instant satisfaction.

He goes on to explain that this is probably hazardous for humanity’s long-term health. While Musk has already criticized social media, this is his toughest warning yet. It’s also bound to get folks talking. Is Instagram and Facebook truly harmful to our health? What is Elon Musk’s motivation for wanting us to remove Instagram and Facebook? This is not the first time, nor will it be the last.

The Twitter board has agreed to sell the company to Elon Musk in a $44bn deal. Musk, who is the world’s richest man with a net worth of $266.8bn according to Forbes, put in a bid to buy the social media site for $43bn on 14 April.

The offer was initially rebuffed by Twitter, but after Musk confirmed a funding package, the takeover was announced on Monday (25 April).

“I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter, because that is what free speech means,” Musk tweeted.

Musk has said that AI will be much smarter than people, putting humans at a tremendous disadvantage. “I think generally people underestimate the capability of AI — they sort of think it’s a smart human,” Musk said at a talk with Alibaba CEO Jack Ma at the World AI Conference in Shanghai, China. “But it’s going to be much more than that. It will be much smarter than the smartest human.” And he’s made much more alarming statements than that. “AI is a fundamental risk to the existence of human civilization,” he said in 2017. “I have exposure to the most cutting-edge AI, and I think people should be really concerned by it.”
