My Biggest SEO Mistake (And Why Your Organic Traffic Might Be Garbage)

Over the last 12 months I’ve driven 58.6 million visitors from Google. You will look at my traffic sets, you look at this graph and you’re like, wow, Neil you must be doing really well at SEO. And you know what you’re doing, but you know what? That’s not really the case. Today I’m going to break down my biggest SEO mistakes.

Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________

As you can see here, 58.6 million visitors from SEO. That’s a lot of traffic to not have to pay for. And if I scroll down and I look at the traffic stats, coming from terms like Ubersugget which is fine. My name, Ubersuggest, affiliate marketing, my name, variation Ubersuggest.

But if I just keep going further down the list you’ll start seeing a lot of keywords that, aren’t really relevant to my business. And a lot of the key words of what I was optimizing for as you can see here, it was just pure volume. And I was getting a lot of traffic, but as you can see now my traffic starting to drop, why? Because my team, you know, at my ad agency we track leads and I can’t show you our leads in Salesforce because we track it all due to people’s personal information like their records or the company URLs.

But when we were tracking our sales through Salesforce of what’s driving clients for NP Digital , and typically people will click on let’s talk and submit a form or contact.

So we have two options to become a lead. And what we found is, most of these keywords droves, little to no leads. Now, if you go to neilpatel.com, I get my traffic typically from blogging, right? I can see here on the blog. And if you look at my content, I’m going after keywords that are very specific. Customer reviews in video ads.

So if I type in customer reviews video ads. The search volume, isn’t high. If you look here zero monthly searches, right? People aren’t really searching for a lot of these keywords but you know what?

We found that people who are interested in putting customer reviews in video ads or images, and they’re trying to figure this out are interested in conversion rate optimization which is one of the services we offer.

So the content that we’re producing on our blog is much more niche. How to create a free Google website for a business. This for us, this post is target local businesses because our SMB division helps localized businesses. How to create unique gift guides for e-commerce content.

And I spent so many years building up my traffic and it wasn’t until I got the traffic.

Look, the big lesson from this is, don’t optimize for traffic optimize for revenue. If your keywords aren’t generating you revenue, move on to new keywords. And when you’re doing keyword research, don’t make the mistake I did. Don’t just optimize for quote-unquote traffic. What I want you to do is type in keywords.

So don’t optimize just for traffic, optimize for traffic from the right audience. And before you go after keywords do your keyword research, type them into Ubersuggest, figure out what keywords have high volume and traffic while you’re technically they mean the same thing but also high CPC. And of course it’s related to your business.

So don’t just optimize for quote-unquote keywords and traffic optimize for relevancy. And if you do that, you’re going to be better. And if you need help with this check out my ad agency, NP Digital or if you just have questions, leave a comment below.

My Favorite SEO Report – Uncover Your Competitors’ SEO Strategy in a Few Clicks

There’s over 200 ranking factors in Google’s algorithm. So, how the heck are you going to have all the time to keep up with all of them, so you can improve your rankings and your traffic? There must be an easier way, or maybe even one report that you can use to grow your traffic. Today I’m going to break down my favorite SEO report.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
HubSpot: https://www.hubspot.com/
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________

The thing about SEO is a lot of tools out there have very similar reports and features. And the feature I’m going to end up breaking down. I do it through Ubersuggest because you can get it for free, or if you want to pay for it, there’s a lot of other SEO tools that also have this feature.

So, I want you to go to neilpatel.com/ubersuggest and put in your domain name. If you don’t have a lot of traffic, then put putting one of your competitor’s domains that is much more popular. If you’re not sure who one of your competitors would be, just do a Google search.

Now you’ll find that some of these websites aren’t too similar and some of them are. So, as I’m going through them, I’m going to take out the ones that I know aren’t that similar.

And then now I have a decent list of competitors that I know that are similar and I do compete with on a regular basis. Even if, they don’t do the same exact business as you if you know that they talk about some of the same stuff and they write similar blog posts.

Now what this report shows you is how many keywords your site is getting traffic for, and how many keywords your competitors are getting.

I actually want you to focus on keywords gap. What keywords gap is, it shows you all the keywords that your competitors rank for, that you don’t rank for. And that’s why this is my favorite SEO report. The reason being is this gives me a big list of new keywords that I should be targeting that I may not be.

And what you’ll find is that some of the keywords that your competitors rank for is not really relevant for your company, like, how to get your contacts? HubSpot offers an email tool.

And I would make a list of all the keywords that my competitors rank for that I don’t. And then I want to use that to come up with a list of keywords that I should be going after that are relevant for my business.

Like, again, I wouldn’t want to rank for two factor authentication options but I would want to rank for long scroll website examples, the reason being is we offer conversion optimization services at my ad agency. NP Digital, and some people may be looking for long sales letter type web pages and they can use that to potentially get more leads, or types of demand in marketing.

You know, if people are looking for demand marketing or inbound marketing or unknown contacts on Facebook messenger, not too relevant, but maybe somewhat. And I would do this for a lot of my competitors.

So, if I do this for every single one of my competitors and I’m going to click view all again to close it. And I do it for all the competitors that are relevant, what ends up happening is, this all now have a massive list of keywords that I should be going after, that I want other people to find me for or new people to find me for, my competition ranks for an item. That’s why this is my favorite SEO report.

And then you would just go and create content around those topics. And if you’re not familiar with, hey, what kind of content should I create around these topics? You just Google them. So, one of the keywords was Facebook business manager. So, when I google Facebook business manager, there’s Facebook, there’s Hootsuite example how to use Facebook business manager.

And this could be a great example of all right, what kind of content do I need to create if I want to rank at the top? And if you do this for all those keywords you’ll get an idea of what you need to do to get more traffic from new keywords.

So that’s it. I recommend that you check out that report. It’s really easy to use. There’s a free version of it as well.

4 Daily SEO Tasks That You Need to Do (And That Produce Results)

Google, on average, makes over eight algorithm changes per day. That’s a lot of algorithm changes. So, how do you ensure that you’re doing all the right things to continually stay at the top of Google? Today I want to break down four daily SEO tasks that you ought to do.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________

I’m at neilpatel.com/ubersuggest. Now some of the daily tasks that I do use Ubersuggest, and some of them don’t, and I’m going to break them all down for you.

So the first daily task that I like doing is checking my rankings. So if you’re on Ubersuggest, if you haven’t, you can type in your domain or a keyword, hit enter, and then I want you to go and click on the dashboard button. This is going to be where you add projects.

Project gets added and then your rankings will load. Sometimes it takes 10, 20 minutes for the first set of rankings when you just added your project. But let’s go to the rank tracking report and let’s look at, you know, as you can see here, I already picked up a few keywords.

Within the next five, 10 minutes, more will be picked up. Let’s look at one of my older profiles, Neil Patel, and I can pick custom time ranges, like last 30 days. And then you can see how your rankings are fluctuating over time.

And this is really simple because then you can see, all right, are my rankings going up? Cool. The ones that are going down, I will look at those pages and see what I need to do to improve them so I can get my rankings to go up back over time.

And I would look at, all right, who’s, and some of these results are localized. And I would just look and be like, all right, who’s above me? What are they doing? And what do I need to be doing to rank higher? So then I would just look at their pages and compare them to my pages.

The second thing that I like doing in Ubersuggest on a daily basis is I go to the keyword overview and I’ll continually search for new keywords. So I already know about the keyword SEO company, but I may type in keywords like digital marketing.

And what Ubersuggest will do is it’ll show you a list of keywords, some content ideas, list of keywords, and the search volume over time. So let’s say I look at the list of keywords. I’d be like, huh? You know, maybe I want to go after digital marketing company.

And I can add the keyword. And what I would do is I would look for other keywords that I haven’t added yet. I’m going to go down cause not all of them are relevant. I’m going to keep going. Let’s see. Digital marketing firms. I probably want to go after that keyword.

And then click add. And by doing this on a daily basis, when I go to my keywords list, I’ll constantly have more keywords in here.

So then that way, I can continually boost and increase my rankings because SEO is all about keywords. The more keywords you have, the better off you’re going to do, assuming you actually take time to create content around those.

The third thing that I love doing is just doing a regular site audit. So, as you can see here, neilpatel.com is already loaded, crawled. And if it hasn’t been crawled today, just click re crawl. And the reason I like doing this is, as you constantly make changes to your website, and you constantly update things, you keep getting more and more SEO errors or things can go wrong.

So I’ll look at, like, the critical arrows. These are some pages that take too long to load, and I’ll have my team work on fixing this because that’s more server related. For the issues that are more warnings or recommendations, some of them I can fix like a page without a H1. That’s easy. I can go fix that myself.

The fourth thing I like doing is to head over to Google search console. In Google’s search console, you’ll see where things are going wrong, where they’re not, and they’ll list good URLs, bad URLs, URLs that need improvement. You can open up any specific report. You want to see less red. And as your yellow increases, you want to see less yellow, and you just want to go through all the reports.

So, like, I like going through, like, the enhancements, like breadcrumbs. Make sure there’s no errors. I like going through, actually, AMP, breadcrumbs, FAQ, and I just go through them. Just make sure there is no major errors.

It’s a lot of little things. And by doing that, you’ll consistently rank over time and rank higher. So that’s it. Those are the four tasks that I like doing on a daily basis.

How To Write SEO Content That Ranks In 2021🔥

How To Write SEO Content That Ranks In 2021🔥
🌟 SEO ADVICES 👉 http://darwin-gp.com
Knowing how to create SEO content correctly separates amateurs from professionals. In this video, I will show you step by step the exact process of creating SEO content. So, if you want to rank first in Google, keep watching, because exceptionally powerful SEO content is the leading domino for increasing organic search traffic. Also, don’t forget to subscribe to the channel and like it so you don’t miss our new videos. And so, here we go!

One of the biggest challenges bloggers and content marketers face is writing content that is optimized for search engines but also appealing to people.
If you want to expand your blog’s audience, you’re going to have to get smarter with content. The main way to achieve this is through SEO copywriting.
While search engine optimization may seem complicated, it’s easier than you think; especially if you understand that it’s best to write for people, not search engines.
In order to thrive, your online business must go beyond just “writing content.” Your content must accomplish two things:
solve a specific problem
appeal to the end-user.

We all know what happens when you type a search query into a search engine and click “enter”: you get a list of search results that match your search query.
These results pages appear as a result of search engine optimization.
In short, SEO is a method of optimizing the effectiveness of your content for search engines to help it rank higher than content from other sites targeting the same search terms.

Google displays web pages in search results based on page authority and relevance, to improve user interaction. How does it measure authority and relevance?
Google determines the relevance of your page by analyzing its content based on several factors, including where and how often you use certain words in that piece of content.
Google measures authority by the number of links leading to that page and how credible those links are.
On the Internet, links are like votes with a slight difference. The winner of an election is determined solely by the number of votes, whereas the ranking of your web page depends not so much on how many incoming links it has, but on the quality of those links.
Who drives the user to action? A copywriter does. A copywriter is a skilled professional who writes text for advertisements, promotions, and customer interactions. In the marketing world, they are often called “creative people.” An SEO copywriter adapts this to online content.

A copywriter is someone who understands people, knows what their audience likes, and chooses words they will like. The headline, words, phrases, sentences, and paragraphs used in the content should persuade and induce readers to take a certain action. The SEO copywriter also understands how Google treats certain words and phrases, especially long-tail phrases.
If you are a blogger, freelance writer, or online entrepreneur, you can become a sought-after copywriter if you develop your creativity and hone your writing skills.

If you want to build a thriving online business and survive in the ever-changing world of SEO, your job is to create useful content that is interesting, persuasive, and well optimized for search engines; and you have to do it consistently. It’s part of the user experience to get fresh new content on demand.
What is SEO copywriting?
SEO copywriting has evolved since Google started releasing its updates.
If you want to create very useful content that will rank high on Google while also directing paying customers or clients to your online business, you should think about the components of Google’s ranking algorithm.
SEO copywriting is all about creating useful, compelling, and valuable content that targets specific keywords so that other people are happy to promote it on social media platforms.

This increases the authority and relevance of your content and improves its ranking in Google for selected keywords. So when you strongly recommend something, Google considers it relevant and you will get better SEO content results.
SEO copywriting helps you target your customers and solve their specific problems with well-designed content.

Some elements of valuable content, such as visual appeal and timeliness, are hallmarks of copywriting.
Consistently implementing SEO best practices throughout your content will naturally propel your content into the top 10 of Google and increase your traffic.
However, there are elements that will always allow you to rank high in Google, as well as increase your conversion rate. Before you implement SEO copywriting elements, remember that there are things that must be done before on-page optimization.
Here are 6 important elements of SEO copywriting:
Site Speed.
40% of people leave a web page if it takes more than 3 seconds to fully load.
47% of end-users expect a web page to load in two seconds or less.

What is Bad SEO 🔥 SEO Tutorial for Beginners

What is Bad SEO 🔥 SEO Tutorial for Beginners
🌟 SEO ADVICES 👉 http://darwin-gp.com
SEO is so dynamic and evolving so fast that you need to know what works and what doesn’t by updating your knowledge of best practices. Break away from some bad SEO habits that are not only outdated, but have lost their effectiveness, and practice more current and trendy SEO tactics while taking into account the basic realities that help you realize your business goals. Watch this video to the end so you don’t miss out on a lot of useful information. Also, don’t forget to subscribe to the channel and give your likes. Let’s not waste any time and let’s get started!

As we probably know, we’re entering the next decade with the opportunity to say goodbye to terrible SEO biases that are bad for your site. They worked for us in the past, but now they have the opportunity to grow, because we probably know that the world has changed and the old ways no longer work.
Search engine optimization involves a long and gradual game. So terrible SEO methods can damage your site’s visibility and positioning in Google.
Don’t hesitate to give up some bad habits, even if they’ve worked for you before.

Although link building is an SEO tactic, you must follow some marketing techniques to be successful. Approach link building with the same dedication that you apply to marketing, because only when you can build an impressive backlink profile can you taste the fruits of marketing success. The message you send when requesting a link should be well thought out with a clear understanding of who it is intended for. It involves identifying and researching the audience so that the message can touch the right chords. Using message templates or sending generic messages doesn’t work. Understanding the person behind the Web site you are targeting should help identify their interests and create an appropriate message that will elicit the right response.

Link building can be a tedious task that requires time and resources. It is for this reason that small businesses tend to settle for poor quality links that often have little to do with real business. Not only should links be of excellent quality, but they should be appropriate for the type of business you are doing. Using the wrong links can only lead to penalties, so be especially careful when using them.

Filling pages with content, even if it meant using similar content on multiple pages, was a tactic that worked for a time, but no more. The purpose of using similar content was to facilitate keyword targeting, but it’s a bad strategy. Organizations with multiple cities often use the same content for different cities, changing just the city name, but it does enough damage to SEO. A thoughtless use of content leads to poor quality pages that are detrimental to the entire website.
Substance has to be 100% great, if your substance is not one of a kind, then it is useless for SEO.

The fundamental explanation is that when you view an item through a web scanner, it retains a similar substance covered in its list items to provide player results to customers and what they are looking for. Many people have tried to reproduce a great substance from rumored sites to attract traffic to their site, but that trick no longer works.

In case you want to post new scholarly publications on your site and distribute content compiled by others, given that it’s okay, but in case they don’t comply with Google’s guidelines, it’s best not to distribute anything at this stage. Continuous distribution of new content is good for SEO practice, but it’s additionally important to maintain harmony between the content and its quality.
Before allowing visitor posts, remember a few principles :
The substance must be exceptional .
You must fully demand the substance.
Visitor posts must have significant hyperlinks.
Substance must have proper length .
No spelling or punctuation errors .

Links are vital because they help raise rankings, but they are only one of several factors that search algorithms consider when ranking. It would be a mistake to over-rely on links to boost rankings.
Links are like votes, indicating that the public approves of a website about its good quality and ability to convey valuable information.

Organic link harvesting is one of the best practices, and there’s nothing wrong with requesting links following white-hat SEO principles. But it is advisable to stay away from aggressive link building techniques that carry the traits of black SEO, such as getting links through link schemes, buying links, or using some spam tactics.

On-Page Seo Checklist For 2021 🔥 The Complete Guide

On-Page Seo Checklist For 2021 🔥 The Complete Guide
🌟 SEO ADVICES 👉 http://darwin-gp.com
If you’re looking for an SEO checklist to help you increase your site’s organic traffic and ranking in Google, you’ve just found it. We’ve put together the definitive checklist you’ll need to be successful in SEO in 2021, covering best practice information and tasks you need to be aware of. Watch this video to the end so you don’t miss the best part! Let’s not talk too much and get down to business.

From the basics of SEO to what you need to know when analyzing your off-page signals, use this as a guide to ensure that your site adheres to best practices and that you are not held back by issues you missed.
The following items are mostly service tasks, but they form the foundation of a successful SEO strategy.
Set up Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.
The Google Search Console is an important tool that provides you with invaluable information about your site’s effectiveness, as well as a wealth of data you can use to increase your site’s organic visibility and traffic.
Bing Webmaster Tools is a similar platform that simply provides data and analytics for your search engine.
These essential tools allow you to view search terms and keywords that users use to find your site in search results, submit sitemaps, detect crawl errors and more.
If you don’t already have them, do it now and thank us later.
Without the right data, you can’t make good decisions.
Google Analytics is a free marketing analytics tool, which allows you to view data and information about how many people are visiting your site, who they are and how they interact with it.

Google Analytics is pretty hard to beat, but there are some decent alternatives like Clicky .
Just make sure you have a way to track regular search traffic and conversions. The first step is to install Google Analytics code on your site and familiarize yourself with basic SEO reports.

Create and submit a Sitemap file.
The purpose of a sitemap is to help search engines decide which pages to crawl and which is the canonical version of each page.
It’s simply a list of URLs that define your site’s core content to ensure it gets crawled and indexed.
A sitemap tells the search robot which files you think are important for your site, and also provides valuable information about those files: for example, for pages, when the page was last updated, how often the page has changed, and any versions in other languages of the page.
Google supports some different sitemap formats, but XML is the most commonly used. You can usually find your sitemap at https://www.domain.com/sitemap.xml.

Create a Robots.txt file. Simply put, your site’s robots.txt file tells search engine crawlers about the pages and files that web scanners may or may not request from your site.
It is most often used to prevent crawlers from crawling certain sections of your site and is not intended to be used as a way to de-index a web page and stop it from showing in Google.
You can find your site’s robots.txt file at https://www.domain.com/robots.txt. Make sure you already have it.
If you don’t, you need to create one – even if you don’t currently need to prevent any web pages from being crawled.
Several WordPress SEO plugins allow users to create and edit their robots.txt file, but if you’re using a different CMS, you may need to manually create the file with a text editor and upload it to the root of your domain.
Check Search Console for manual actions. On rare occasions, you may find that your site has been adversely affected by the imposition of manual actions.
Manual actions are usually caused by an apparent attempt to violate or manipulate Google’s Webmaster Guidelines – this includes things like user-generated spam, structured data issues, unnatural links, thin content, hidden text and even what’s called pure spam.

Make sure Google can index your website.
It’s not as rare as you think that a website actually can’t be indexed by Google.
You’d be surprised to learn how often sudden website de-indexing is caused by developers accidentally leaving noindex tags in place when moving code from the middle ground to the working environment. Just go ahead and start crawling; if this is blocked, search engines won’t be able to crawl or index your site either.
Double checking that the main pages that should be indexed can be indexed can save a lot of troubleshooting problems if you find problems later.
