The TikTok Effect | How Social Media Is Reviving Rock Music

In this video I discuss what I call the TikTok Effect | How Social Media Is Reviving Rock Music. The Fleetwood Mac song “Dreams” has re-entered the charts because of a huge viral video featuring “420DoggFace208” Nathan Apodaca and his skateboard. This is another example of why “Blocking” hurts artists.

SCOTUS, Hunter Biden & Social Media Censorship w/ Law Prof Samuel Moyne & Journalist Aaron Maté

Tonight Katie Halper is joined by journalist Aaron Maté (https://twitter.com/aaronjmate) of The Grayzone (https://twitter.com/TheGrayzoneNews) and Pushback (https://twitter.com/PushbackShow) (https://www.patreon.com/aaronmate); along with author and Henry R. Luce Prof. of Jurisprudence and Prof. of History at Yale, Samuel Moyn.

Twitter & Facebook today decided to do as they always do when faced with a questionable situation: make everything much, much worse than it was to begin with. Both platforms censored users’ ability to share a “NY Post” article (https://nypost.com/2020/10/14/facebook-twitter-block-the-post-from-posting/), the “Post”‘s Twitter account was locked, and Ted Cruz even went so far as to call the paper a “reputable news outlet.”

Twitter claimed its actions were in line with their policy against disseminating information gained from “hacked materials.” Facebook also curbed the spread of the story, saying that the article would first be subject to review by independent fact-checkers. The GOP collectively lost its mind, and for once, they were the ones writing very strongly worded letters that were pointless.

The article said that Hunter Biden had “secret emails” (redundant) and that he had introduced a Ukrainian energy executive to Joe Biden in 2015. The Biden campaign initially said that they went and checked, and there was no such meeting on the VP’s schedule. No one cared about this until Twitter and Facebook decided to manufacture a Streisand Effect scenario and now here we are.

Twitter hack probe leads to call for cybersecurity rules for social media giants

An investigation into this summer’s Twitter hack by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYSDFS) has ended with a stinging rebuke for how easily Twitter let itself be duped by a “simple” social engineering technique — and with a wider call for…
