4 eCommerce SEO Techniques for Beginners (Ranking Your Products and Getting FREE Google Traffic)

Do you want to learn how to drive a thousand E-commerce sales from SEO without being a SEO expert? Well, today I’m going to teach you how. Today I’m going to break down four E-commerce SEO techniques for beginners.

RESOURCES & LINKS:

Google Merchant: https://www.google.com/retail/solutions/merchant-center/

Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________

Now I have a question for you, I want you to leave a comment below so that way I know how to better help you out. How many sales are you getting per month from your E-commerce store? If it’s zero, that’s okay. I know I need to help you a little bit more to then. If it’s a hundred or a thousand, let me know whatever the number is below on a monthly basis what you’re getting in sales, and I’ll make sure I’ll help you out whenever you need it.

So step one, Google Merchant. It gives you free exposure, free organic traffic in the Google Shopping tab. There’s integrations with a lot of E-commerce platforms that can help you generate your shopping feed automatically and even submit it for you automatically to Google Merchant.

Step two, Product Page SEO. Don’t focus on search volume in your keyword research process focus on keywords with transactional intent. Just keep this in mind.

And if you’re struggling to find these transactional keywords, you can type in head terms like laptop, those one or two word keyword phrases within a Ubersuggest.com, and when you type it in, it’ll give you a whole laundry list of ideas in the keyword ideas report.

So when you’re on Ubersuggest, once you type in your keyword in the left-hand navigation you’ll see keyword ideas, you click on it and you’ll see all the recommendations related to laptops. And there’s even questions there, preposition, comparison keywords. A lot of these will be transactional-based keywords that aren’t that competitive don’t drive as much volume, but they’ll definitely drive your revenue.

You also get to keep in mind your title meta description. You want to include the brand of the pack there. You want to include the name of the product there and include the model number as well or anything else that differentiates your product or makes it unique and helps us stand out from competitors who may be selling similar products.

And of course you want to add structured data, add FAQ content, so that way people know, Hey, here’s the FAQ’s but Google can also pull that in. You want to share real testimonials not fake ones, real ones, the more detailed with images, even better.

And you also want to write unique product descriptions optimized for both SEO and Conversions. And this one’s a big mistake that I see people making because when they’re writing product descriptions, a lot of times they’re selling the same product that other people have to offer.

Step three, minimize your load time and maximize your site speed. We talked about this a little bit, but just think about it.

You can use a Google page speed insights, putting your URL, or heck you can even go into Ubersuggest, put your URL, check out the site audit report. And in that site audit report, it pulls a lot of stuff from Google’s core vitals updates and ensures that your website is doing all the things that you need to do from an on-page perspective, as well as a site speed perspective.

So you can do well from both mobile devices and desktop devices and even tablet devices.

Step four, create relevant URL structures. A lot of people in E-commerce for some reason, they put numbers in the URL. I don’t know why I’m not some model number or the pack has a number in there. You should avoid that. You want to include keywords that are relevant to your product because that’s how you’re going to get the most traffic in the long run.

And keep in mind, you don’t want your URLs too long. When your URLs are really really long, Google thinks that when someone types in a really, really long query, your URL should rank, but then when someone types in one or two words that are part of your URL, but not everything in there, what you’ll find is as harder for you to rank, even when your webpage is a perfect fit for that keyword query that someone just typed in.

So when in doubt, try to keep your URLs more shorter than longer. Now, if you need help with your E-commerce SEO, check out our add agency, NP digital. Well funny enough, over 40% of our clients are in the E-commerce space and we love helping them grow their traffic, as well as through SEO, paid ads and content and all the other services out there that you may need.

Email Marketing basics – Why It Is Important To Build An Email List

Building an email list and using email marketing in your business is still without a doubt one of the most effective ways to drive sales and increase revenues. As far as a digital marketing strategy goes, with some stats even showing a 4300% return on investment, this is a huge opportunity.

So in this email marketing tutorial we’re going to be covering a few reasons why your businesses marketing strategy needs to include email.

The fact is… email marketing works. It doesn’t matter whether you’re in a business to consumer (B2C) or a business to business (B2B) market, the fact is, the people you’re trying to reach all likely use email.

Why build an email list?

Well for one thing, a staggeringly high 4300% ROI.

Not to mention direct access to your customers.

And their expressed desire to actually want to hear from you and receive your emails.

Email is also an everyday part of our lives now, and most people check it at least once a day and now check it wherever they are from their phones which means you have the opportunity to reach your customers every day, no matter where they are.

This means direct access, anytime, anywhere.

Email marketing also offers a level of protection by giving you your customers contact details and access to them just in case your favourite social media channel ever decided to close, or change it’s algorithm like Facebook did awhile back in an effort to boost their ad revenues.

Finally, email marketing is extremely easy to use. Once you’ve signed up for an email marketing service and entered a few basic details you’re pretty much ready to go, and can start collecting and sending emails that same day.

Lastly, probably the best part of email marketing however is the fact that even today, it’s still not being effectively used by most small businesses, which leaves the door wide open for you to better connect with your current and potential clients and customers.

One of the biggest regrets I’ve found among established business owners is that they failed to focus on building their email list earlier.

So my advice to you is to get started today, and if you’d like an example of what to say and how to write your emails then be sure to head over to adamerhart.com/newsletter and sign up for the Modern Marketing Newsletter so you can see exactly how I use email marketing in my business.

The ONLY Features You Need to Use in SEO Tools

Are you getting overwhelmed with your SEO reports and all the tools? There are so many out there. Well, don’t worry. You’re not alone. Today, I’m going to break down the only features you need to use in SEO tools.Don’t get bogged down by reports and features and tools. That do very little to actually get you more rankings. I’m going to break down four main features and reports that you need to rank higher. And here’s best of all, you can do pretty much all of this in Ubersuggest.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________

You can find it in neilpatel.com/ubersuggest, or just go to ubersuggest.com. And you can do literally most of this stuff for free in Ubersuggest. That’s what’s great. So in that sense, we’ll go down the four main features you need to use and how you can do it for free.

So, let’s dive right in. Number one, Rank Tracking, Look, on Google, if you don’t know what your rankings are, if they’re going up or if they’re going down, or how things are improving or declining, how are you going to improve? Those things are really important, right? Be here’s the thing with SEO, it’s a long game.

And Rank Tracking shows you that, and it can track your rankings on a daily basis and a weekly basis, whatever you prefer. And you can even track your rankings on mobile devices and desktop. You can do the all in Ubersuggest for free. And what’s cool about that is that way you can see how you’re performing on different device types. And it tells you when you’re doing SEO, what’s working and what isn’t.

The second thing that you need to look at with these SEO tools is Competitive Analysis. Competitive Analysis tells you what your competitors are doing and what’s working for them. Look, you don’t want to recreate the wheel. You want to do what’s working for others, and just do it better. Why start from scratch?

And what’s cool is, you can see the keywords by clicking on the Keywords button and you’ll see all the keywords that that page ranked for. And that’ll tell you, hey, should I also create a page that’s very similar. Well, if I do, now I know what keywords to go after because it’s related to my business and it can also drive me sales.

And another cool feature is you can also see all the backlinks that are driven to that page. All the other sites that are link into your competitor’s page. Because here’s the thing, if someone wants to link to your competitor, they’re probably willing to link to you too.

So now, you got a list of links going to your competitors. So, you can create a better page than that’s more thorough, go after all their keywords, and you can also hit up all the people linking to them and ask them to link to you too.

The other cool thing that I like about the Competitive Analysis report on Ubersuggest, you can see how much traffic your competitors getting. If they’re getting more traffic month over month or less traffic month over month, because Google is doing so many updates.

The third report that you need to look at and feature within these SEO tools is Keyword Ideas. Now, the Keyword Ideas report in Ubersuggest gives you all these ideas that you can go after.

So, you want to go after popular keywords. And what’s cool about the Ubersuggest Keyword Ideas report, you can actually filter it by some any region, such as United States or Canada, or UK, or India, or Brazil, or even South Korea.

And within the Keyword Ideas report in Ubersuggest, there’s also a Content Ideas report. What that’ll show you all the content that you can write about that are related to those keywords. So, you can see what’s popular on Facebook, what’s popular on Pinterest, what’s popular from the backlinks perspective, and what’s even popular from an organic SEO perspective.

The last factor, and this is number four, is Backlinks. If you don’t get people linking to you, you’re not going to do well. Backlinks are like votes.

So, you want to get ideally bigger sites linking to you and more relevant sites. And you can use the Backlinks report within Ubersuggest. And what’s cool is they have a Backlink Opportunity report more specifically, where you can put in your URL and then your competitor URLs. And it’ll show you all the people that linked to your competitors, but don’t link to you.

Because if someone links to not just one but two, three, four of your competitors and they don’t link to you, the chances are they don’t mind linking to other people in your space because they’re already linked to lots of your competitors.

WordPress SEO Tutorial for Beginners | Step-by-Step to Ranking a WordPress Site

Wouldn’t it be great, if you could optimize your WordPress site for SEO without having to be an SEO expert. Well, there’s a way. Today, I’m going to break down WordPress SEO tutorial for beginners.

Look, there are four areas that you need to focus on. Normally, we’re going to go over each of them in detail, but I’ll also tell you which plugins to use. So you don’t have to worry about the details and you don’t have to learn any coding.

Factor number one, site speed and performance optimization. Now, before I dive into the main points on this, here’s why it’s important. If your site loads slower, what you’ll find is your conversion rates drop.

Now there’s a few things that affect your site load time. Cache, that’s where people don’t have to keep loading up your images. And they know that you’re saving the same ones over and over again, so they cache them. CDN stands for content delivery network.

So that way, whenever someone’s visiting your site from the UK, you don’t have to, you know, crawl through the broadband, pipes underneath the sea to visit your site. What they’ll do is they’ll just ping a server in the UK so that way just loads faster.

Then there’s lazy load. You know when you go to a site and you scroll down, there’s no need for them to load up all the images at once. Instead, they should load them as you scroll so that way you can improve the experience. JavaScript, sometimes if you have too much JavaScript on your site, it can slow things down.

Now the second factor that you need to pay attention to is technical SEO. Look, if Google can’t crawl your page and understand what’s on your page or able to read the content on your site. How are you going to rank for anything? And that’s why technical SEO is super important.

Everyone talks about link building, and you need all these links, new content, and they’re right. You do need links. You do need content. But if Google still can’t crawl your website, understand the content on the page, and read the code. Then it doesn’t really matter how many links you have. You’re not going to really rank for much.

The AMP framework just makes it so that way your pages load faster on mobile devices specifically for text-based articles. You also want to check your redirects. There’s 301 redirects, 302 redirects. One’s permanent, one’s temporary, but that can because the bots to go around in circles if they’re doing, if you’ve done your redirects wrong.

Third point, content marketing. Look, if you write content, no matter how amazing it is, if no one reads it, no one sees it. You’re not going to do well. So you got to really focus on the marketing of that content and making sure that your content is buttoned up as well.

So a few factors. Push notifications, you know, in your browser, whenever you’re on, searching on the web, especially if you’re a Facebook user. It will be like, oh, it’s Neil’s birthday. And they’ll show you this little notification box that comes up. Clicking on that is a push notification. And you can actually send that out on your website. So that way you can get more visitors.

Then there’s grammar. No one wants to read content that’s just poorly written. So make sure you check your grammar and fix it. Because Google’s like at the source in a dictionary, they know what’s good spelling, bad spelling, great grammar, bad grammar. If you’re writing, I love using Grammarly. That helps me a lot because I have terrible grammar.

Then you got your social sharing. You know, even though Facebook reach isn’t that great compared to what it was years ago, still better than nothing. You know, you still want to share that content on Facebook and Twitter and LinkedIn and any other social site that’s applicable to your website. And of course, you want to collect emails.

The next factor, security. These days we’re all worried about privacy and security. You don’t want hackers to inject malicious code into your website or publish fake content on your website. And it happens. So that’s super important for you to avoid. So with security, you know, we did mention SSL earlier, but there’s also a few other plugins that can help like, Sucuri and Wordfence. Those are two check out.

Quickly Discover the Best PPC Ad Copy for Your Website

Writing ad copy for an AdWords campaign can be tedious and expensive. How do you know what ads people click on? What are their titles, and how do you adjust them for seasonal trends?

Step 1:
Enter in your competitor into the main search box in SpyFu – https://www.spyfu.com/

Step 2:
Go to the Ad History section of PPC Research – https://www.spyfu.com/ppc/ad-history

Step 3:
Scroll through the different ads represented by the colored boxes. Observe what titles and base ad copy they’re using and how they relate (or don’t relate) to the corresponding keyword.

Note: You can even use the filtering in the keyword list if you already had some keywords in mind, and just wanted to find the best ads surrounding them.

Step 4:
Take a look at how they change their copy over time. Try and identify if the changes in copy were because of seasonal trends – if not, it’s quite possible that they changed the ad because it wasn’t returning the clicks they wanted.

Step 5:
Possibly check out additional competitors, compare and contrast techniques and figure out what works best for your site!

Is SEO Really Working For You?

You spent all this time doing SEO, but how do you know if it’s really working out? Today I’m going to break down if SEO is working for you.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________

Now, it’s obvious you’re already starting to rank high on page one, you’re getting more traffic and you’re getting more sales, but there’s this weird honeymoon period when you’re doing SEO, the first two, three months, sometimes even six months, you’re not getting the results you want, and you’re putting all this time, effort and money into SEO, and the question is, “Should you continually be spending that money? Is it really worth it?” And there’s a specific way you can see if SEO is working for you.

So first off, I want you to head to Ubersuggest neilpatel.com/ubersuggest, you can type in your domain name, like I’m typing in neilpatel here, and you’ll see Ubersuggest load.

Now, if you have a brand new site, you may not see a graph like this. If you do see a graph, your ideal goal is for it to be going up and to the right. That’s the first leading indicator that SEO is working for you. If it’s flat, doesn’t mean all hope is lost. If it’s going down, again doesn’t mean all hope is lost. There’s ways to reverse that, but more so you want to figure out if SEO is working for you and the he easiest way is to first see if the graph is going up and to the right.

The second thing that you can end up doing to see if SEO is working for you is I want you to click on the dashboard link on the left side of Ubersuggest. If it requests you to log in, make sure you go and log in, and I want you to click on new project or create a project. You put it in a URL. So I’m going to end up putting in one of my company websites, Np Digital, and then click next, type in the cities that you’re going after. For me, I’m going after United States, and click next.

The next thing you’re going to want to do is put in your keywords. So, as you can see here, it’ll give you a list of recommended keywords. If you’re a brand new website, you may not have that. So, I’m going to type in keywords like SEO, that I may be targeting. I’m going to type in keywords like marketing, SEO company, and then the next thing I’m going to do on the next page is going to say track my competitors. Some of these may be your competitors, some of them may not. It’s pulling based on common keywords.

Now this project is brand new, so let me go over to the Neil Patel project. All you have to do is on your dashboard, click see more, under tracked keywords, and you can see your rankings over time. You may see a gray box like this, if you’re doing just, if you just started, because you won’t have too many results when it comes to rank tracking.

If you have been doing it for awhile you can change your date range, like I do last month, and you can see Marketplace Facebook, and the keyword I may be tracking is LinkedIn, and you can see if it’s going up or down over time. That’ll give you a good idea if SEO is working for you. And you can continually add keywords, like I can add the keyword, SEO company.

I can add another keyword like SEO, and then I just click start tracking my rankings, and it’ll take a bit, because Ubersuggest says has to crawl, but as Ubersuggest crawls, you’ll end up being able to quickly see, all right, what am I rankings? And as you can see is pretty quickly here, right? SEO, that’s my rankings for it. SEO company.

Even though your traffic’s not going up, if your rankings are going up, that’s a good leading indicator that SEO is working for you. So that’s how I judge if SEO is working. Once you’re getting the traffic, then I look at conversion rates, but for now I recommend creating a project in Ubersuggest, tracking the main keywords that you’re going after, so that way you can see leading indicators of SEO is working for you.

Keep in mind, if you’re not raking in the top hundred, you’ll just see a little dash, a little line like that.

If you’re ranking in the top hundred, you’ll see a number, and the more greens you see over time, the better off, and I recommend you daily rank tracking because, as I mentioned, Google does on average over eight algorithm changes per day, even though most of them are small. It’ll give you a better understanding of what is happening.
