I deleted Social Media and here’s what I learned

Hey! So 4 months ago I deleted Social Media and as someone who gained a platform on tiktok, this was one of the hardest things I had to do.

I have re-downloaded instagram for my gaming channel: https://www.youtube.com/@UCwH6kG5gWM_nmv5pgiaa18A

However I am still unsure on when or if I will ever redownload tiktok.
In this video I share my own experience with social media and the reasons why deleting it might be beneficial to you.

Life Without Social Media // The Conversation

Back in 2019, I deleted my Instagram of over 4,000 followers. Taking steps back from social media has completely transformed my life, mental health, and business. I deleted TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat & Instagram this past year. My biggest fear was that I wouldn’t be known or that I wouldn’t be able to make a difference in the world if I wasn’t constantly online.

I sat down to share a few of the things I’ve learned since leaving the social media world.
After our video “A Year Without Social Media” went viral, I realized how many people are miserable and connect with the message of finding contentment again. With the release of the Social Dilemma and other content, I know there is a rising conversation regarding how technology affects our lives. Learning to be present and finding alone time has helped me control the worry and anxiety that I’ve dealt with all of my life.

There’s a clear difference between our followers and our friends and we’ve lost that reality. While we have become more connected as a society, we so often feel alone. I am by no means telling people how to live, but I think it is essential that we pause and take a step that’s best for us and our family.

We do so much for others, but I believe in this new year it’s time that we start prioritizing ourselves. We can’t pour if we’re empty and we surely can’t help people if all of our attention is on a device.

A Year Without Social Media // Deleting My Instagram

Back in 2019, I deleted my Instagram of over 4,000 followers. I was spending SO much time on the app dealing with comparison and rarely spending any time alone. As a photographer people told me this was my “business card” and deleting it would be a terrible decision. After getting rid of social media, I was able to focus more clearly on my tasks, goals, and vision for my life.

You have your small friend group in life that will help give you advice and guide you, but without realizing it we allow a much bigger group of people to start dictating our decisions. There’s a clear difference between our followers and our friends and we’ve lost that reality. I decided to get away from social media and delete the account, I needed to reset because what I had been doing was not working.

Social media apps are designed to keep our brains over-stimulated and addicted to their product. Our culture is so afraid of silence and alone time, but we have to start embracing these moments in order to find ourselves.

“We’re living for people we’re never going to meet, and neglecting people that are going to be here forever”
