The Biggest SEO Mistake I’ve Made

The biggest SEO mistake I’ve ever made. What does a national park, a war, and a casino all have in common? Well, I’ll give you a hint. It involved my biggest SEO mistake.

Leave a comment below, letting me know what you think my biggest SEO mistake is. I gave you that hint right? Now before I break down my SEO mistake, I want to first tell you that you need to think long term.

See, I was shortsighted when I first got started into the role of entrepreneurship and marketing. When I was in my early twenties, and even before that, when I was 16, 17, 18, because I started SEO when I was around 16 years old. And to give you context, now I’m 37. I want to make money fast. So fast, I look for shortcuts.

And there was this one site called Battlefield Bypass which was expired domain with a lot of authoritative links. These links were naturally generated and not purchased because it was a national park site. And it was part of the award that happened on that land. So I bought it, converted it into online casino site. Within months, I was ranking the top three positions on Google for the term “online casino”.

That keyword is worth hundreds and thousands of dollars a month in affiliate revenue. Not thousands, hundreds of thousands to give you perspective. That’s millions of dollars a year. That’s a lot of money, especially when you’re under 20 years old. But within months, Google whacked me! All of a sudden that site lost all of its rankings. In essence, I was trying to cheat the system by getting traffic and rankings by cheating instead of providing value.

See, the sites that rank in the top in the long run are the ones that users love the most. No one that cheats their way to the top lasts forever. Just think of it this way. You don’t really care if a site at the top has a lot of back links or better on page code. You only care if that site solves your problem and ideally in a quick and affordable fashion.

Now I learned a lot from this mistake, and I made tones of others as well. But I had the shortcut mentality when I was young and I was growing up. And if I could go back in time I would stop taking shortcuts. And I would be much further in my career even as an entrepreneur. That’s my big SEO mistake.

If you’re struggling with SEO, and you don’t want to make all the mistakes that I’ve made, and you want to get your rankings by providing value to users and using ethical, clean tactics check out my ad agency, NP digital. YouTube SEO – 3 Steps To Rank Number 1 on YouTube

YouTube SEO, three steps to rank number one on YouTube. I will teach you how to rank number one on YouTube in three steps and who doesn’t want to rank on YouTube? It’s the second largest search engine in the world right after Google, and nearly 2.3 billion people access YouTube once a month.

Funny enough, Google also owns YouTube, so technically, they own the first and second most popular search engine. That means if you’re able to rank a video on YouTube for keywords that people care about, it’ll be seen by thousands of people and it’ll also rank well on Google over time. All of that sounds great, but YouTube is becoming more and more competitive. Thousands of creators in every niche are competing for probably attention and a lot of them are targeting the same audience as you.

But the good news is that YouTube is nowhere near as competitive as Google. And even if you’re just starting, you can rank videos on YouTube. Back in 2017 when I started my YouTube channel, things were tough. I’ve always been great at writing content, but it’s an entirely different game when it comes to video. I also knew how to do SEO and get millions of visitors to my website, but all that knowledge was hard to use on YouTube and it didn’t translate directly. So in other words, what worked for Google, didn’t really work for YouTube. Some of it sure did overlap, but it was a different algorithm.

So I decided to crack the code and understand YouTube’s algorithm and share it with you. And in order to do that, I had to create lots of content. And I mean, lots of content. I started pushing out videos every single day. When I started my YouTube channel, I was doing at least one video a day. I want to learn a few things, so I needed data on what worked and what didn’t.

A lot of what I learned back then no longer applies to YouTube in this day and age, but I found out there are three steps that you need to take in order to rank on YouTube that worked back then and still work today and they’re super effective.

Learn SEO in Just 5 Minutes a Day

Learn SEO in just five minutes a day. My company NP Digital was the 21st fastest-growing company in the United States according to INC Magazine. And SEO is one of the biggest reasons for my success and that company’s success. It allows you to get traffic, leads and sales without paying an arm and leg. If I had to buy my traffic with ads, it would cost $5,134,294 a month.

And ad costs keep going up each month, but that was the latest number when I Googled for each of my keywords just for shits and giggles. And that’s expensive. While with SEO, I don’t even spend 1% of that. If I had to spend that five plus million dollars, I wouldn’t have a profitable company.

So how do you become an SEO expert without having all the time in the world? Well, here’s how you do it in just five minutes a day.

Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________

Step one, go to Ubersuggest. Put it in your URL, create account, create a project and put in some of the keywords you want to rank for. Ubersuggest will also give you keywords that you can rank for if you don’t have any keywords that you want to rank for. This doesn’t even take five minutes. And every week, Ubersuggest will send you emails on what’s wrong with your site and how to fix it. And it’ll give you simple tasks, two or three, and that’ll improve your rankings over time and teach you SEO because you’re doing it on your own website.

Step two, I want you to read NeilPatel.com, Backlinko and Search Engine Land. You don’t have to read articles every day or anything like that, but just read one or two a week that you like. It’ll keep you up-to-date with new tactics and strategies and how to keep improving your rankings.

Step three, listen to Marketing School Podcast. Not every episode is on SEO. There’s an episode every single day, but at least one episode a week is usually on SEO. And the Marketing School Podcast is under five minutes. And as you listen to a few of the podcast episodes, if you just give it time and you listen to them for a few months, not every single day, but just pick some every single week, you’ll learn SEO quickly without spending more than five minutes a day.

Look, it doesn’t take much more than that. Just give it some time, do this for a few months, and you’ll learn SEO quickly without spending more than five minutes a day.

And if you don’t want to spend the time and you just want someone to spend more time on it and get the results faster, check out my ad agency, NP Digital, where we do this for companies. Heck we do all forms of marketing for companies.

Email Marketing Secrets – Here’s What’s Working in 2022

Email marketing secrets, here’s what’s working in 2022. In the marketing world, there is a virtual ATM. You know those machines that you go to and take out money? You put in a card, put in your pin, and cha-ching, you’re getting money out of your bank account. But on the internet, your email list is considered an ATM. Every time you need more income, all you have to do is send out an email. And I didn’t come up with this concept.

Tip number one, scrub your list. This is how I get my open rates above 30%. When you keep sending emails to people and they don’t open it up, what do you think Gmail and Hotmail do? They put it in the spam box. Even if the person hasn’t clicked spam, they put it in the spam box. So to avoid your emails going to the spam box like when I send you an email, you’re reading them, you’re getting them.

Tip number two, use casual subject lines. It usually increases open rates by 12% from my test. In other words, if someone was really proper with their subject lines.

Tip three, use your email list to get followers on your social platforms. This will help with the rule of seven. See in marketing, there’s something called the rule of seven. When someone sees or interacts with your brand seven times, they’re much more likely to evangelize you. It helps you build that brand and just helps you grow. By doing this, you’ll get more followers on all your networks, more engagement. You’ll continually be in front of people and you can continually promote to them.

Tip number four, follow up when people add stuff to their cart, but don’t complete. This usually reduces abandonment cart rates by up to 18% by one simple email for example, “Hey John, I noticed you added this toilet paper. “It’s almost out of stock, there’s only two more. “Check it out.” Probably doesn’t work as well with toilet paper but it could work with t-shirts or scooters or bikes or whatever you’re selling.

Tip five, keep your emails short and to the point. We found that short emails that are under 200 words tend to have a higher click-through rate by seven to 38%. That’s a massive difference. So instead of having really long emails, keep them short and to the point.

Tip six, send your emails early in the mornings. We found that when you send your emails around 6 a.m. for the time zone that your subscribers are in, you have a better chance of having your emails opened up because when they wake up and check their email inbox, you’ll be at the top versus being at the bottom. If you’re at the bottom, they go through a lot of at the top and then they don’t keep going and then they’re done. So send them out early in your time zone. We usually find that 6 a.m. works the best.

Tip seven, add value even when you are selling, it just creates better customers. There’s a site called Legion Athletics. And what Legion is, it’s a fitness supplement brand. They generate a lot of their revenue through emails, more than 10%. And the way they do this is they don’t just sell you protein powder or supplements, they also show you how to best use them, the best workout routines and how you can get fit, better and healthier all while taking their products.

Tip eight, resend to unopens. This typically adds an extra 8% to your open rate. I do this all the time. If I send out a hundred thousand emails and only 25,000 or 30,000 open them, I know that I can get roughly another 8,000 to open up the emails if I resend to all the unopens and I change the subject line. The key is change the subject line. If you don’t change the subject line, it doesn’t work as well.

Tip nine, add countdown timers within your emails. And I’ve seen this increase sales by roughly 19% the last few times that I did it. Now you only want to do this when you’re selling something and it’s a promo and it actually is running out.

So I wouldn’t put a countdown timer in my email if the promo lasts forever, but if the promo lasts for 24 hours, I would add that countdown timer to the email because it works.

Writing Email Marketing Subject Lines

The subject line is the most important part of your email. Your subscribers read it before reading the rest of the message. It should be short and catchy. If you can, include a deadline or tease message to get your subscribers to open the message. Once you have a catchy subject line, you can create an email that will be read and appreciated by your subscribers. This tactic will make your email marketing campaigns more effective.

Here are some other ideas for making your subject lines catchy. Email marketers should use a good subject line to make the most of their audience’s attention. The subject line provides subscribers with basic information about the email, which should inspire them to open the entire campaign.

The goal of the subject line is to inform, engage, and motivate your subscribers to take action. For example, a good subject line could include the date, time, and place of a webinar. By reading the message, subscribers can decide whether they want to attend. A good subject line is also critical to get past spam filters and actually get your marketing email in front of your entire list.

Many email marketing platforms will provide email marketing tools that will score your subject line for potential spam content. Email marketing automation is now so advanced that almost any email marketing software or email marketing provider that you choose should help with this. When creating an email, be sure to use your brand in the subject line. Choosing an appropriate subject line for your email can be a big help.

For instance, new subscribers should be sent a series of emails related to their interests and activities.
Other useful segmentation methods can be based on the user’s location, preferences, and open rate. Inactivity can also be considered a segmentation. This segmentation can be useful for your email marketing and is one of the most effective email marketing strategies.

Your email subject also affects your email deliverability as does the reputation of the email server that you use. Not all email platforms were created equal and this is something you should look into when selecting your email marketing service provider.

THIS Will Completely Change Social Media Marketing in 2022 (If It Hasn’t Already…)

Something is about to change in social media. Are you ready for it? Hey everyone, I’m Neil Patel, and this will completely change social media marketing in 2022 if it already hasn’t.

Lots of companies couldn’t rely on foot traffic anymore to generate revenue because of the lockdowns and social distancing. This led to a huge explosion and demand for digital marketing and social media is one of the best channels for businesses to leverage.

Sprout’s Social’s 2021 index found that nine out of 10 consumers will buy from brands that they follow on social. 86% will choose that brand over a competitor and 85% will buy from that brand more often. So our competition is expected to grow, so as consumers willing to use this marketing channel to make buying decisions.

You can expect social media to get even more competitive over the coming year. And as companies start getting better and more competitive in social media marketing, you’ll have to compete for attention far more than before. So here are some things that you can do to compete on a level playing field.

According to Sprout Social, there are a few key factors that’ll differentiate you from your competition.

The first one is, to respond to customer service questions in a timely manner. You need to demonstrate responsiveness and answer the customers in a timely fashion.

Next, demonstrate an understanding of what they want and need. So what do people want and need? And as you go about creating content, you should keep customers in mind because it’s all about servicing them and providing stuff for them.

A good way to measure this is by looking at different content pieces and seeing which one gets the most engagement. Whether it’s the format, the message type itself, the content type, whether it’s video or text, it’s always good to see what stands out and gets more engagement. As you discover the types of content that tend to perform well, just do more of them.

Next, I want you to create more culturally relevant content. Today, we can see more and more brands creating content around cultural events that mobilized people’s attention like Black Lives Matter and the Me Too movement, and even some mainstream sports events like the Olympics.

You should be listening to what’s drawing your audience’s attention and create content that resonates with those topics. That includes putting out user-generated content because user-generated content is amazing. Do you want to spend all your time sitting in front of a keyboard writing content when other people can do it for you? That’s the example of user-generated content. I also want you to create educational content about the products or services that you’re offering. This is where this is the difference between selling and showing up. Look selling is great, but you want to show up and have that generate sales for you. When it’s about your product, it shouldn’t just be about, hey, let me go and sell this. It should be about educating and putting things first for others.

So it’s like, you want to tell people, hey, engage with me. Just like, I’ll tell you right now, check out my profiles. My Neil Patel ones on Instagram, my NP digital ones. And this is obvious, but when you tell other people to engage with you and brands forget to do this, you’ll get way more engagement from your audience.

And you should be actively engaging with them by answering their comments, their questions, even looking at their profiles and responding and engaging their webs on Instagram or Facebook, or even adding stories or tagging people. This will all help you do better.

7 Tips to Work 10x Faster in SEO: More Traffic Spending Less Time

Your competition isn’t just doing SEO, they have a team helping them out. So how do you compete with them when you don’t have a team? Well, don’t worry, I’m going to help you out here. Today I’m going to break down seven tips to work 10x faster in SEO, drive more traffic and spend less time doing so.

RESOURCES & LINKS:

Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________

On a side note, funny enough as I’m recording this video, someone tells me I do a lot of hand gestures, I didn’t know that until now. So if you think I do a lot of hand gestures, leave a comment below telling me if you think I do a lot of hand gestures, and hopefully I’ll try to tone it down a little bit. So, let’s first get started, and let’s start off with technical SEO.

Tip one, only do a few hours per month, or a few hours per week if your website’s big.

Tip two, focus on site speed, this is something that can make or break your SEO performance. Think about it, there’s 5G, people like me are a little bit too frugal, so I won’t pay for 5G. My phone is still on 4G, or LTE, or whatever it’s called, but there’s a lot of people even if you’re on 5G, you’re in an area that doesn’t get 5G reception.

So tip three, and this is the first one for content creation. I want you to create content around areas that you’re already getting some results in. If Google likes your site for certain topics and your business is related to those topics, do more of that versus going after other topics that are also related to your business that Google’s not giving you any traction on, right? One gets you results quicker, the other one not so much. And once you get the results by doing the first group, you can then eventually go up to the second group.

Now, let’s go after internal linking, and let’s go to the first tip of that which is tip four. The same thing with prioritizing my content applies here, you need to work on reinforcing keywords around topics that you’re already getting some traction on. You’ll look at your existing pages and look for parts of your content that you can go ahead and add internal links to, to other relevant pieces of content for.

If you go and put it in your URL to Ubersuggest, go and check out the Top Pages report. If you haven’t checked out the Top Pages report, make sure you go and do it now, it’s my favorite feature in Ubersuggest. It’ll tell you your top pages, so you’ll know which ones to interlink more to, and you would take the most popular pages and link them to the ones that aren’t as popular when it’s relevant to help juice them up.

The next category I want to discuss is competitive research, and this brings me to tip five. Try and find keywords that smaller websites are ranking for, especially when you don’t have a huge website with a high domain authority and lots of backlinks. Keywords that smaller websites rank for are typically easier for you to rank for as well. Use the Traffic Analyzer on Ubersuggest to see what those keywords are for your competitor so you know to go after them.

Now, I want you to also think about link building, which is the next section, and that brings me to tip six. Much like with competitive research, the best opportunities will be probably found by reverse engineering the competitors that aren’t too big.

Look, your big competitors, what they’re doing, doesn’t always work for you. What works for Wikipedia, isn’t going to work for me. If I want to start writing on elephants, no one’s really going to read into it. But, if you start focusing down on what’s working on the smaller websites, chances are it’ll work for you too.

And tip seven, look for backlink opportunities using the Backlink Opportunity report in Ubersuggest. See, if someone’s willing to link to not just one, not just two, but three plus of your competitors, the chances are they’re willing to link to you too.

So then, the Backlink Opportunity report shows you everyone who links to your competitors, that doesn’t link to you, you start reaching out to those sites and they’re more likely to link back out to you. Sure, you still got to email them, not everyone’s going to respond, but you’ll have a much higher success rate.

This Works Better Than SEO (And Gives You 10x The Amount of Traffic) | My BEST Traffic Source

SEO takes forever to get results, there must be a better way to get traffic that doesn’t involve ads. Today, I’m going to break down how this works way better than SEO.

RESOURCES & LINKS:

Codecanyon: https://codecanyon.net/
Upwork: https://www.upwork.com/
Toptal: https://www.toptal.com/
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________

Look, You’re probably like, “Neil, you blog about SEO, you have an SEO tool called Ubersuggest, what could be better than SEO?” Well, there’s a ton of things better than SEO, and you can probably name tons of them, Even though I’m addicted to it, and generally, I’m just addicted to digital marketing.

But even though I blog about SEO, and I believe in it because it produces such amazing results and you can create literally a hundred million plus, even billion dollar companies just through SEO. You’re probably wondering, “Neil, what is it that you… Works way better than SEO?”

I want you to check out something on my website, and I mentioned it in this video, it’s called Ubersuggest. Neilpatel.com/ubersuggest. And it’s a tool, you can put in your domain name, and it gets keywords, shows you, you know, what keywords your domain ranks for, your competitors rank for. Even tells you what keywords your competitors rank for that you don’t. It’ll even tell you how many people link to you, or even tell you how much traffic you’re getting or estimate that. It’ll even tell you new keyword opportunities, and you can do keyword research or content research. It even tells you what errors you have on your website.

So how is this better than SEO? Do you want to know what drives more traffic than anything else? Take a guess. Ubersuggest. Did you know, over 400,000 people a month find my website by just either typing in the keyword Ubersuggest, or going directly to my domain.

On the flip side, less than 100,000 people a month find my domain by typing in, Neil Patel. So what does this tell you? Tools are more powerful, tools work better than content, tools build more links than manually reaching out.

When I created a free tool, Ubersuggest, and I just kept releasing more and more features for free. Sure, there’s paid features as well, but the majority of the app is for free. Did you know I generated over 10,000 backlinks, and I didn’t really have to do anything, just kept improving the product. See, with my content, I had to keep trying to come up with new content that’s fresh, that no one’s ever talked about. With my old content, I had to keep updating and spending money on it. With the tool, it keeps generating goodwill traffic conversions without me putting in as much effort.

Now granted, upfront cost may be more, and in a bit, I’m going to teach you how to do it with actually less upfront cost than content, but it’s well worth it. And when I look at my ad agency, NP Digital… If you haven’t checked out, we help companies of all sizes grow their traffic.

If you look at NP Digital, over 40% of our customers are coming from Ubersuggest. That’s the power of the tool, that’s what you can’t take for granted. So what I want you to do, is go and create a tool for free and put it on your website. You can go find developers on Upwork, Toptal. And if you can’t find people at any of these places, what I want you to do is go to Codecanyon. Codecanyon is a site where there’s tools on everything.

You’re in the auto industry, there’s a tool for that. You’re in the mortgage industry, there’s a tool for that. You’re in the hair salon industry, there’s a tool for that. They literally have tools on everything.

So what I want you to do, is go to the site, check out one of the tools. I’m not affiliated with them. And you can get some of these tools for $5, $10, $20, 50 bucks. Usually, it’s rare to find a tool on Codecanyon for over 50 bucks. And pop it on your website, white label it, and then boom.

Over time, you’ll find that the tool generates more traffic, more backlinks, and it helps you generate more SEO traffic without really doing SEO.

Auditing Your Website’s SEO For Rankings (BEYOND Just Technical Fixes)

There is more to SEO than just on page factors. Today, I’m going to break down how to audit your website’s SEO for rankings beyond just technical fixes.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Canva: https://www.canva.com/
Hello Bar: https://www.hellobar.com/
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________

Most SEO audits are focused on technical fixes. While these are important, they’re just not strategically aimed at improving rankings for specific keywords. You want to use a traffic analyst or an Ubersuggest, and more specifically, the keywords by traffic report. This will end up showing you the keywords that are sitting on pages two and three.

If the keywords you’re ranking on those pages are directly related to the main topic of the page, then what I want you to do is add additional H2 subheading including that keyword within that page, and I want you to write a few paragraphs talking about the main keywords around that topic that rank on page one for this keyword that they’re writing about. And include rich content like images, stats, and video, and then check your rankings for the secondary keywords in a month and keep iterating gradually until you find a sweet spot.

If those keywords are directly related to the main topic of your page, then I want you to create a new content piece, look into the top rank pages for that keyword, and then figure out the topics that you should be writing about, the length of those content pieces, which other forms of rich content you should add, such as images, infographics, videos, and stats.

So once you optimize your headline with the keywords, what we like doing when we’re writing the content, we like actually taking that same concept of creating powerful headlines and doing that with our subheadings, because if you can keep people engaged within your content through your subheadings, using storytelling as well to keep people engaged, and then putting customized images within your article using tools like Canva, which you can do for free, what you’ll find is you’ll get more and more people engaging with your page and linking to them, and especially, if some of the images that you include have stats and data and your company logo on there, people will start embedding them onto their website and linking back to you.

We found that that helps so much when you’re creating content around new articles that your competitors rank for that you’re not really going after yet.

Another thing that takes a lot of time, but it’s super effective, is actually just go and see, “All right, what are all the other articles around the web related to this article?” Let me go to search.twitter.com or put .com/search, and put in that URL and see who tweeted out. Go build relationships with those people, so then as you’re building relationship with those people, you want to hit them up. “Hey John, I noticed that you shared this article by Eric, and I actually have a similar article that just came out that covers A, B, and C that his didn’t. Check it out, and if you like it, feel free to share it with your audience, cheers, Neil. P.S. If I can share any of your content, let me know, I’d love to share it.” And what you’ll find is even if you don’t have a lot of followers, people are flattered, they want to build relationships, because keep in mind, these are social networks, they’re not islands where can people stand off by themselves.

As long as you’re willing to reciprocate, you’ll get so many people sharing your content, that sole shares will bring in more traffic, some of those people may link to you, subscribe to your email newsletter list, and then you can keep blasting them up.

And the thing that people don’t talk about with SEO, which is one of the most important factors, everyone talks about content creation. If you’re going to leverage a strategy and do better than your competition, you need to create lead magnets, so you can use tools like Hello Bar, create an offer like a free e-book, or lead quizzes and critic quiz, collect emails, and then you email people every time you have a blog post. If you don’t do this, you won’t get as much traction.

Now, if you produce more than a few posts a week, you don’t want to email them every single day, because that’s just going to be overwhelming, but just pick your best ones and email them, because this will create more traction and most social shares as well. So if you follow this, you’re going to rank better and start beating your competition.

My 4 Favorite SEO Tools (And The Ones That Are a Time Waste)

There are one to many SEO tools. It can be overwhelming. So today I’m going to break down my favorite four. Today I’m going to break down my four favorite SEO tools and the ones that are a time-waste.

Number one, of course, Ubersuggest is one of my own tools. What I really love the most in Ubersuggest there’s a few features and I’m going to break them down, is whenever you’re doing keyword research in the keyword ideas report, you can click on this button, page one, ranking potential, and you put in your URL and it’ll tell you all the keywords that you can rank page one on, based on your domain authority, your on page SEO, how long your site’s been around.

So it’ll tell you what you actually have a shot to rank for right now. Right? And that’s great because SEO is a long game, but who doesn’t want to see more short-term results. The other feature that I really love in Ubersuggest is the competitor analysis. I can put in my domain name and my competitor’s domain name.

And it’ll show me all the keywords that they rank for the I don’t rank for. And it’ll also show me all the keywords that you know, I’m ranking for, that they’re also ranking for. And then you want to check out what are the keywords that they’re ranking for that you’re not even targeting because that’s a keyword gap. That’s your opportunities.

Another feature that I love in Ubersuggest is the back links opportunity report. And if someone’s linking to three of my competitors, you know that if they linked to three of my competitors, they don’t mind linking to other websites in my space. So if I take the time and hit them up, there’s a great chance that they’ll link back to me.

The next tool I like is Click Flow. It’s used to test your title tags and your meta description. This is great because a lot of times you can boost your rankings, not by building more links, but just getting more clicks. If everyone does a Google search for a keyword like dog shoes and they click on the second result, instead of the first result, it tells Google that no one wants a first result. They prefer the second result and they’ll switch the rankings.

The next tool I like, Google search console. It’s free. You can discover keywords that you need to double down on. Here’s what I mean by that. Go to Google search console, see the pages that are getting traffic.

Look for the keywords that you’re ranking for the bottom of page one, on page two, page three. And see if you’re using those keywords within your content. If not, if those keywords are relevant, integrate them, it’ll boost your rankings for those terms, helps you double down and you should see results within 30 days.

Of course, one of my last favorite tools is Google trends. It allows you to explore new opportunities and find a lot of great keywords and categories to go after, especially what’s trending. And what’s going on an upward trend versus a downward trend because you want to go after more keywords and terms that are on an upward trend.

As for a time-waste, you know, when you look at very technical SEO auditing tools, there’s a lot of them out there. It’s only worth it if you have huge websites with thousands of images, complex internal linking structures, unless you have a critical technical SEO problem.

Most of the time, you won’t need to be running lots of crazy in depth audits. You can do a lot for free within just the Ubersuggest, auto report. Now think about the ROI of your efforts. What’s working best in your SEO. Don’t spend time and money on all the tools and activities that aren’t really yielding those results. But for most of your day-to-day stuff, you’re not going to be using those features. You’re just going to be paying for stuff that you don’t use.

So instead, I want you to focus on what’s driving your ROI. Go look in your Google analytics, go look at what’s driving the conversions, your goals, what content, what channels. Focus more on that than wasting your time looking at 20 tools.

It’s not just about the cost. Cost isn’t the issue of the tools. The real issue with using too many tools is it’s a big time suck. If you spent your time on what’s generating your ROI, you’ll make more money.
