Alberto Beingolea anunció en una carta que dará ‘un paso al costado’ a su cargo como presidente del Partido Popular Cristiano (PPC), luego de no haber “alcanzado los objetivos” deseados. “Mi padre me enseñó que las personas de bien, al ejercer un cargo, asumen las consecuencias si los objetivos no son alcanzados. Por tal razón presento mi renuncia a la presidencia del Partido Popular Cristiano con la que me honraron estos años”, escribió.
El candidato presidencial agradeció el apoyo de los “pepecistas” durante tantos años, desde el momento de que fue elegido como presidente del partido en 2017, sin embargo, lamentó que en estas elecciones la cantidad de votos obtenida no alcanzó para cumplir con sus aspiraciones “al punto que, siguiendo las disposiciones legales, el partido perderá la inscripción”.
Pese a su decisión, Beingolea aseguró que no abandonará la agrupación, más aún en la difícil hora de la reinscripción partidaria. “Me verán en primera fila, o allí donde las nuevas autoridades dispongan, recolectando firmas, recorriendo calles, difundiendo el mensaje social cristiano, hasta volver”, señaló. Cabe destacar que al 99.821% de actas procesadas, el PPC obtuvo solo 1.58% votos válidos, según ONPE.
